Energy is the core resource. You generate it by tapping, and every click pushes your character a little further toward the next rank, better weapons and the gear you have been eyeing. More power means you can take on tougher enemies, which is where the actual resources come from.
Companions are the other half of your build. They come out of cards you open, and they help you as you fight your way through the anime worlds. Between regular enemies, epic battles and raids, there is a steady loop of collecting drops, unlocking avatars and rare items, then upgrading everything and doing it again at a higher power level.
